Pinups Calendar Cover Shoot Weekend

This year of Pinups for Pitbulls, Inc. has been incredible! I have gotten to work with some of the most incredible, strong, good-hearted women I've ever met in my life!
Tonight we had dinner after our shoot in Huntington Beach with Shannon Brooke (shannonbrookeimagery.net), Jennifer Corona (MUA: http://www.modelmayhem.com/22355), Jeanette of Pinupgirlclothing.com, Laura of Charcoal Designs and her sweetheart Mike, Jenny Jen Star (model shot today with her pup Petunia), Audiogirl (my best friend and right hand girl in PFPB) Red and Chris! We had dinner at Kona a Tiki themed restaurant in HB. The decor was amazing, the conversation was enlightening, hilarious, sweet, and so many words I can't even express. I am so grateful to be working with these people!
Thank you to everyone who helped on set today (mentioned above) and for all of our supporters in Pinups for Pitbulls Land! We are eternally grateful for your passion!!!!

The Calendar is Done!

Calendar News!
Our calendar is AT THE PRINTERS! WOOOOOO! We have been working long and hard on this, and are super-excited for it to be at the November 22nd Event. This year has been so great, with so many talented people involved, and so many gracious supporters, including you guys. When things were really busy and stressful, sometimes it was great to just log on here and get a friendly hello, or a thanks for doing what we do.

Now, months after we started our application process, after the long hours of shooting and getting organized, we are at the home stretch and will be able to focus on throwing some AMAZING events! Thanks again so much for all your love and support. If you'd like to support us more, please message us about helping out at one of our events, or about promoting them! We love to meet new people with a heart for bullies!!!! We've met so many people this year who are simply amazing.

Since we already ordered the calendar run based on the number of pre-orders we had, and due to the high demand for them around the holidays, we will no longer be taking Pre-orders for the 2009 Pinups for Pitbulls Calendar after November 21st. We will not be able to guarantee that you will have them in time for Christmas beyond our Pre-Order date. You probably will be able to, we just won't be guaranteeing it. In other words, Pre-Order your calendar today from our website or Myspace Page! They are $20 plus shipping, and proceeds benefit pitbull rescues like Chako.org, Critter Crossings, and Philly PAWS to name a few, and to help place, foster, feed, transport and take care of individual bullies in need!

Come one, come all and join Pinups for Pitbulls for our second annual dog rescue fundraiser on November 22, 2008 at the Palace of Wonders, located at 1210 H St. NE, Washington, DC! Last year alone, we donated over $10,000 to rescues around the nation -- let's double that this year!



Here's your chance meet some past and present calendar models, as well as purchasing your very own copy of the 2009 Pinups for Pitbulls calendar (model signings available). There will also be guest speakers from the Humane Society of the United States who will be discussing the stigma surrounding pit bulls, as well addressing the issues of dog fighting and animal cruelty. Also, don't miss out on the jaw-dropping fire, burlesque and belly dancing performances by beauties Little Darling (Pinups for Pitbulls founder), L'il Dutch, Lizzie Fur, Malibu, Mavi Belladonna, Candy del Rio and Maria Bella .




Doors open at 8:00pm, with the fundraiser beginning at 9:00 pm and show time starts at 10:00 pm. Tickets are $12 at the door.

Calendar Shoots, Funds Raised and More!

Great news!

We have recently been raising money for our 501-c3 filing.
Thank you to everyone who donated, we raised the goal amount of $500!

More on Fund-Raising:

We are now accepting donations toward the funds for 2009. This is the pool of funds from which we will donate to shelters and to sponsor individual dogs. A downloadable PDF of last year's donations is on our website (Donations page, under Switchboard).

2009 Applications! Dealine this week!

Hello all,

Many applications are pouring in for the 2009 Calendar!

As you may guess, we are flattered and excited about this year!

Ladies, please get in your fees as soon as possible so that you can receive your applications.

Visit our website for the minimum requirements and link to pay the $25 fee.

Deadline is JUNE 14th, this Saturday!

This past weekend, we were represented at Ink & Iron in Long Beach, CA by our very own Audiogirl, who was very encouraged by the positive responses to the calendar.

We are looking so forward to working with both new and old friends of bullies for 2009!!!

Applying for the 2009 Calendar?

We are now sending out our 2009 application. In order to receive the application, you must read the Minimum Requirements listed on our FAQ page and you must pay the $25 application fee. You can pay this by paypal. Our paypal account is pinupsforpitbulls@gmail.com
This fee is non-refundable, no exceptions.

We appreciate you taking the time to apply to PFPB and on behalf of each of us, we thank you for loving bullys enough to want to be involved!

Due to extensive press coverage and the success of last year, and because we are sending out "casting call" emails to several pin-up websites, there will be a high number of applicants this year. We don't mean to intimidate you by saying this, but we want to encourage you to really put your best foot forward! We believe that all women are beautiful (especially with the great lighting, makeup and costumes that go along with professional photos) and all women have something to offer, and we want to see that from you. We want to see your strengths and your smarts, your innovation and your heart for bullys. Great photos help, of course, because our pinups are in the spotlight the whole year and need to be comfortable with that, but looks are not by any means the sole basis of our choices for the calendar.

If you don't have recent professional photos that you feel are right for us, and you want to get some shots taken for this application, we think that's a great idea; it shows us you're serious and comfortable in front of the camera. (You'll need to be, as our shoots are fun but a lot of work!) Our myspace page has many photographers within our "friends" section. Bombshell Mandy of Bombshell Pinups, Cherry Blossoms Photography, and Atomic Cheesecake are great photographers to seek out. (Our deadline is June14th, so hurry!)

We will also be making a pinups for pitbulls section on our site to feature women who do a lot for pit bulls and bully breeds, but who were not selected for the calendar.

So keep in mind that your photos and answers may be used there as well, which is fun and exciting.

We have many other ways to be involved, such as being interviewed or doing a guest article on our forthcoming educational blog, or coming to our events and fund-raisers, helping out with merchandise tables, donating art and items for our raffles, offering whatever skills you have, your ideas and your support! So please, even if you don't get chosen, get involved! The women who've been chosen the past few years have been picked because they were very involved with us before they were models, and after they were chosen, they still continued to help out. (Maria Bella, Rachel Love, and Bombshell Mandy are great examples of this, which is why they were featured two years in a row!) So, even if you don't get chosen for 2009, there's always next time, and there are still ways to a pinup for pitbulls.

Other stuff:

Your $25 donation/application fee will be tax-deductible once our 501c3 status is intact. This may also apply to any travel fees you incur as a pinup for pitbulls (once chosen).

The application deadline is June 14^th, 2008. Emailed applications must be received in their entirety, and hard copy applications must be postmarked by this date.

Models selected for the calendar will be contacted by June 30th.

Email inquiries will not be answered personally until after the model selection is complete.

Organization news:

We're excited to announce that we are filing for non-profit status this month, so that we can start focusing more of our time and energies into spreading awareness about Breed-Specific Legislation and aiding the American Pit Bull and bully-breeds everywhere. This is great news, as most of us have 2 or 3 jobs already. The more we grow, the more money we raise and the more dogs we help.

Our mission statement is live on our site. Tax-exempt ID # will be available as soon as we're official. We'll post that on our site as well.

New for 2009

We're so thrilled that 2008's events were so successful, and 2009 will be even bigger and better. We look forward to working with many people to hold more fund-raisers in 2008-2009, and we are excited to expand our horizons with the calendar! More news on this as we solidify our plans.

We're going to start an educational blog with guest authors and interviews regarding the bully breed, rescues who help them, and BSL issues. If you would like to be considered for this blog or have an idea you'd like to see covered, please email us at blog@pinupsforpitbulls.com.

We are also going to start a section on our website for calendar applicants who do not get chosen for the calendar but who do a lot for the bully breeds and/or the issues that concern us.
